Item information:

NY State Capitol (This traditional-looking building is the New York State Capitol in Albany. It is across the street from the nontraditional-looking building where the swearing-in ceremony was held.)
The Egg (Both the "character and fitness" interview and the swearing-in ceremony for new attorneys took place in this building called "The Egg." Seriously.)
JohnnySwim (Husband-and-wife team known as "JohnnySwim" performed at The Egg my first night in Albany. I was just exploring the city to make sure I could find the building the next morning. Concert was a pleasant surprise! He's the son of Cuban immigrants; she's the daughter of the late Donna Summer!)
The 18th Amendment (That was the name of this drink at the hotel bar. So I had to order one the night before the ceremony! The 18th Amendment, by the way, was the one that ushered in prohibition. It was repealed by the 21st Amendment.)
Sitting with 535 other new attorneys (And that's just counting new lawyers assigned to New York's "Third Judicial Department," covering mostly out of staters and foreign applicants. Those residing closer to New York City have their own ceremony.)
Moments before the oath
Now it's official! (They actually gave us the certificates the day before the public ceremony, after completing the "character and fitness" interview.)
